ABOUT US

Hudson Highlands Chapter 537 of the Vietnam Veterans of America has been in existence in the Newburgh area for more than ten years. We work to improve conditions for Vietnam Veterans and Veterans of other eras and we have also committed ourselves to a number of projects. These include providing essential items for the veterans who are hospitalized at the Castle Point VA Nursing Home; awarding annual scholarships to local high school graduating seniors; and other worth while community and veteran-related activities.

All the funds we raise during the year are spent on our different community projects. One of these is the maintenance of the Orange County Veterans Memorial located in the City of Newburgh. The Memorial was erected by a group of concerned citizens and dedicated on Veterans Day in 1987. Since then, Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter 537 has taken on the task of raising the funds to replace the lights and flags as they wear out and to hire a properly insured professional landscaper to mow the grass. Chapter 537 is in the process of expanding the plaza in front of the Memorial, improving the lighting and landscaping at the site and installing handicap-accessible pathways and parking places.

Chapter 537 is open for membership to all those who served in the United States Military Forces during the Vietnam War. The Chapter meets at the Newburgh Activities Center, 401 Washington St., on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:30 pm. If you would like to become a member, we have an Online Application you may fill out, go to "Get Involved" on the menu, then click on "Go to Application Form". Print this at home and follow the instructions. You may also Contact us thru our "Contact Us" section of this Site, Email our Webmaster or Post a letter to:
